Today students participated in something awesome at IRJC. Pink Shirt Day began back in 2007 where two students took a STAND against bullying. Here is story behind Pink Shirt Day Video LINK HERE. Grade 5 and 6 students wore their pink shirts and learned that "Kindness is one size that fits all". Our 2nd annual WARM FUZZY Assembly was a huge success. Kind words were shared and shared and shared. We learned that KINDNESS is free, contagious and makes us feel good. Let's keep the kindness going. #pinkitforward

We survived the month of January and had a lot of fun along the way. Check out our January in 6TE video. Happy New Year and welcome to 2016! 6TE students have spent the first week of 2016 creating resolutions and goals, learning about our Pillars of Character education program, refreshing on what it takes to be a digital citizen, and participating in team building activities. What a great week! Check out our New Years resolution selfies. Students were to choose one word that will reflect their goals, values and beliefs for their 2016. This word was to sum up what they wanted to achieve or acquire in 2016. Some students have really come up with some insightful goals. We are looking forward to an exciting 2016 in 6TE.
Today students shared their Christmas Around the World research projects. We learned how other countries around the world celebrate Christmas. This has been one of my favorite projects and this year is certainly the best yet thanks for 21st Century learning tools and skills. Students were able to explore in the Google environment on their chromebooks to find information about traditions, recipes, flags, maps and recipes thanks to Google Translate, Google Maps and Google Drive while exploring using Google to search. Please check out our video. Students shared their presentations within their pods and later a few shared to the class. Well done 6TE. I am very proud of your hard work and know so much more about how countries celebrate around the world. Today we were introduced to new knowledge. We learned what "Chromatography" is. 6TE students, please comment below what you learned about chromatography in today's experiment? What did you observe in our science experiment today?
Wow! What a day. We had a Spook-tacular time in 6TE. The costumes were by far the BEST I have ever seen. They were creative, fun and unique. The energy and the spirit in the class was contagious. Thank you parents (and students) for the delicious spooky treats that added to the excitement of the day. Enjoy the video and have a safe and happy Halloween. IRJC participated in "Drive Away Hunger" for our local Blackfalds Food Bank. 6Te donated 255 non-perishable food items! Wow, thank you for your generosity! Our school was able to donate over 1800 items to help our community. Check out our video! Camp was awesome! We came together and faced some fears, we met new challenges, we cheered on our teammates, we tried something new, we bonded and most of all we had fun! Smiles were plastered on every face throughout the day. Please read some of our comments below!
