What does the Poppy Mean?

Students in 6TE have shared their reflections on what the Poppy means to them and why it is an important symbol of Remembrance Day.   These past few days we  have brainstormed, reflected, created and shared ideas about the powerful symbols of war and of peace.  We have viewed powerful videos, read poetry that was written one  hundred years ago as well as created wonderful art that captures the powerful symbol of remembrance.   We are certainly proud of our creations, be sure to check out our Water Color Poppy masterpieces.  We will remember and thank our Troops for their bravery and sacrifice.
Also, thank you to artist Sharon Johnston (my mom) for sharing her art expertise with us!

Dear Mrs.Tennant
To me that video is such a INSPIRATION to everyone, along with any thing to do with Remembrance day. For example everyone in Canada for sure should celebrate how LUCKY we really are. Also to me a couple words that describe what poppies mean to me are Inspirational, Bravery, Courage, Strength, Heroic ect. I think this because these people fought for our country and if they never risked there lives we wouldn't be able to have stuff we take for granted: For example safety, freedom, health, and most of all we are still very lucky because some country's are still at war. P.S. I love all of our classes water color paintings.
Sincerely your student, Santera
