We have had quite an exciting first week in 6TE. It has been filled with team building activities, cooperative games, digital citizenship, classroom norm building, building new friendships and the start of our first units in all of our subjects! It has been fun getting to know each of these students in 6 TE. We have quite a hard working group of students. I look forward to continuing on our learning journey in grade 6 together. Parents, thank you for returning all forms this week. We were the first class to have all forms returned to the office! Yah parents!
Welcome to our new campus of Iron Ridge Intermediate Campus!
A little about 6T..
Back to School! What a wonderful time of year! I look forward to meeting all parents and students at our Annual "Meet the Teacher" evening on August 27th from 3-5 pm. It is a great opportunity to drop off all your school supplies and choose your new locker! See you soon.
I am so truly proud of our Iron Ridge community spirit. Our IJ team participated in the Blackfalds Parade and walked along side our amazing IJ marching band. Mr. Armstrong, Ms. Hackett and our new principal Mr. Krauss participated in the dunk tank. I have been so fortunate to attend so many amazing events as a Wolf Creek Tech Coach and this might have just been one of my favorites. Wolf Creek hosted a Youth Technology Symposium on May 29th where all sessions were completely lead by our own Wolf Creek Elementary and Junior High Students. Mr Lachapelle and myself took 10 students from IRJC that were lucky enough to be a part of this great experience. Mr. Lachapelle choose 5 students from his Coding Option that presented on Coding in the Classroom. We were so proud of their enthusiasm, their learning and their leadership! Our IJ students attended sessions on using green screens to create videos in WeVideo, Mindcraft in the classroom, 3D printing, student blogging, creating stop motion, screencasting and Google Apps. We hope this team of students will bring back all of their learning to IJ and teach our students what they learned to continue in this learning journey.
A huge thank you to Wolf Creek for hosting such an important event for students in Wolf Creek. Check out some of our pictures and some big prize winners! Daegan was the winner of a ipad mini! The quote of the day...."Mrs. Tennant, this was definitely the best day ever." - Annika. Here is the Website for Youth Tech Nation www.youthtechnation.weebly.com Wow! What a show! We discovered some amazing TALENT at IRJC and are so proud of our talented performers at the 3rd annual “IRJC’s Got Talent” show. It was amazing to see these students shine! What an awesome experience to see these young talented students show their school what they are proud of! These neat opportunities for students are NOT possible without the help from our dedicated and committed staff at IRJC. Special thank you’s to our judges, Mrs. Salmon, Ms. Hackett, Mrs. Lovell, Mrs. Tomyn and Mrs. Tennant for sitting in on the auditions to help “Judge” the talents. A huge thank you to Our very talented Master of Ceremonies Mr. Armstrong who might have stole the show with his talents once or twice. Thank you to Mrs. Tomyn and Mrs. Tennant for “getting this show on the road”. Thank you to Mr. Verma for running the projector and capturing video footage. Our student leaders made the show a huge success. They took their leadership roles of stagehand, music DJ, decorating committee and photographers very seriously and we are so thankful for their commitment to making the show a success. Thank you to our talented DJ Mackenzi, our decorators Tonette, Madison, Emily and of course our amazing stage hands Jake, Jada and Sarah. We couldn’t have done this show without everyone’s help. Amazing things occur at IJ when we work as a team! A group of lucky students received an amazing opportunity to spend the afternoon with the talented Kate Boorman, author of Winterkill. Students enjoyed an afternoon discussing the elements of good story writing, writing and reading different types of genres and publishing your written work. The afternoon was complete when Kate read to the students from her debut novel Winterkill. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon learning at IRJC.
