Wetland Ecosystems
Our grade 5’s will learn about wetland ecosystems by studying life in a local pond, slough, marsh, fen or bog. Through classroom learning, as well as a class field trip to a wetland, the grade 5 students will learn about organisms that live in, on and around wetlands and about adaptations that suit pond organisms to their environment.
Grade 5 students will learn about the interactions among wetland organisms and about the role of each organism as part of a food web. We will also learn about the role of human action and how it is affecting wetland habitats. Our Wetlands Field Trip is scheduled for June 5th and 6th. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting learning adventure. - adapted from Alberta Program of Studies
